Caring is being kind, helpful and generous to everyone.  Caring people are unselfish.   They are considerate they think how their conduct affects others and how others feel.  Caring people are charitable and forgiving, and they do good without expecting a reward.

What Parents Can Do To Promote Caring:

  1. The best way to teach caring is to show caring to your child. Spend time with your child. Be affectionate, encouraging, appreciative and patient.
  2. Caring often involves elements of friendship and loyalty. Be sure your child knows the limits of loyalty when a friend tries to get him or her to do something wrong.
  3. Encourage your child to make small gifts to show love and caring to relatives and friends.
  4. Help your child develop empathy by discussing how others feel and encourage them to express how they feel. Be forgiving.
  5. Be kind. Show kindness to others, especially when your child is nearby. Tell your child "that was a nice thing to do."
  6. Help other people. Find ways to help out and involve your child.
